Great Hunting Country Made For Great Versatile Hunting Dogs
Keljer Kennels is located in northern Illinois, just outside of Chicago. With Wisconsin and Michigan to the north, Iowa and the Dakotas to the west, and the Mississippi River running right down the middle, the “Heartland” can provide a multitude of opportunities to hunt. Be it upland birds, waterfowl or blood-trailing that buck of a lifetime, Keljer Kennels can provide you with a canine companion that can help you do it all.
High Standards Bring About Great Rewards

Here at Keljer Kennels, we take the job of producing versatile hunting dogs seriously. Our breed of choice is the German registered/tested German Shorthair Pointer, or Deutsch Kurzhaar. We don’t hang our reputation on the grandparents and great grandparents of our dogs. If a dog doesn’t meet the standards we set forth, it won’t be used in our breeding program.
Rigorous hunting and testing is the foundation of our breeding program philosophy. The standard we use is the breeding/testing regulations set forth by the Deutsch Kurzhaar Verband (DKV/NADKC), the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA), as well as our own needs and wants as hunters. We are committed to maintaining, and improving, the qualities that make the DK/GSP the great versatile hunting dog it is today
The Results Speak For Themselves

We breed for desire, drive and intelligence. Those traits, and a great temperament, make up what we feel is the “perfect” versatile hunting dog. A dog that is equally at home quartering the field, as it is playing in the backyard with the kids.
Breeding only two or three litters a year, we are not in the business of mass production. We are hunters, breeding better dogs, for hunters.
With Keljer Kennels, you will be guaranteed a happy, healthy puppy with a powerful prey drive and a desire to hunt for you. A pup that, with the proper training and exposure, will mature into a versatile hunting partner you can be proud of.
In addition to puppies, Keljer Kennels offers stud service to approved bitches and occasionally started and/or finished dogs.
